So I'm friends with this guy, and he recently started calling me 'wifey'.
We kind of have a flirty relationship... he isn't in the 'friend zone' I guess you could say. And I know that he likes me, he's told me it before. But he also knows that I just got out of a serious relationship and that I'm not ready for a new guy.
But I guess what my question is, is what does 'wifey' mean and why do guys call us it?
Thanks:)
It means what it sounds like: a commitment - but with the "ey" at the end it diminishes is a bit.
Sounds odd, perhaps but it is very much a compliment!

wifey means your top girl, like a girl that you will treat with respect and love. A man's wifey is almost like his Girlfriend but not extaclly.

It means nothing to me really. Says more about the guy than it says about me.
"Someone called me wifey omg it means I am wife material" don't fall into that trap. You won't believe how much stuff men can make up just to make us feel all giddy. Could there be a chance that he is genuinely interested in pursuing you? Sure. He can do the pursuing if he really wants to, we don't have to get swoon by the words and start dreaming of wedding and kids right now.
Weird, I've only heard guys use it refering to their wives "cutely" and or out of affection for their wives for a number of reasons, never heard of it used the way other answers are saying he's using it as.
A wifey is more special than a simple girlfriend. Different from a wife. The type of girl thats down for whatever. Your bestfriend/lover/partner in crime. That ride or die type chick that has your back through anything. All the perks without the actual marriage.
It means you have become so comfortable with each other that you are basically married
it means, like yur his boo, or girl type thing its just a nick name
