I'm really self conscious about the way they look too plus I find them very uncomfortable and painful.

They wouldn't put braces on you if they think you didn't need them. You can either go through it all now and have nice straight teeth when you're an adult or be 30 and have severe overbite or jaw/teeth problems and need them then. It's up to you :)
And of course they hurt they're realigning your teeth into the correct position.
As for confidence? Braces are
Awesome and it shouldn't matter what others think. You need them and they're only temporary. You can pick colours and everything... I've always wanted braces but apparently my teeth are fine... I've also wanted glasses too and yet nothing wrong with my eyes 😪
I only had them done for cosmetic reasons. My mum is very beauty-obsessed and she thinks that I should have perfect teeth :P Good intentions, but I really wasn't worried.
Trust me you don't want braces. I have this plastic retainer thingy fixed on the roof of my fouth which is horrible. Also I had metal caps put on 4 of my teeth which means I can't close my mouth properly.
As for glasses though- I actually like them.
How long will you have them for? And I guess if your teeth were actually horribly crooked or something you'd want them fixed (you can always try Invisalign or something instead) but if they're not bad then I guess... I still want them 😂😂 but I'll never need them. My teeth are "straight" eh hah I've asked so many times and been denied.
Three years if I keep them. And they weren't really that crooked. Why do you want braces so bad lol? They feel horrible :P
I have no idea... probably because like Hollywood I have a gap between my 2 front teeth, I had the left side 3rd incisor pulled as a child and the adult tooth never grew in straight so it's pushing/underlaying the tooth next to it... I always get food stuck in that front gap... or stabbed in the gum with food that sneaks in there I hate it lol but no was always told my teeth would straighten themselves out.. they did from what they were as a child but they're still not where I'd like them to be. To vain maybe 🤔 my mums teeth (which my teeth take after) are perfect and straight why can't they be like hers lol
There is no need to be self conscious because braces are worth it. Think of them as a solution instead of a problem. Braces are there to enhance your teeth, so it's like you're under a cosmetic/beauty treatment. Own what you have, braces are not a flaw, in fact so many people such as me would love to have them. I'm insecure about my teeth gap, and I'm in a big need of braces asap.
If you didn't need them, your parents and orthodontist will let you know, as they know what is best for your teeth. Also, don't sweat it, as your is your teeth with braces are way far from looking ridiculous.
I feel like they do make me look super nerdy and ridiculous though. the way all the metal shows when I smile
Noo, I disagree, lol... it's all in your head. For how long have you had them? If you have had braces for 3 years and up, chances are you will get them removed very soon.
I've had them for 2 months, and I'll have them on for like 3 years. I've got 4 metal crowns over my back teeth and they show when I smile. Plus they stop me from biting fully
No. I had braces for 3 years along with 3 different surgeries. Trust me it's all worth it. I'm pretty sure there is a reason for it.
Nope- my parents just thought I'd want perfect teeth when I'm older.
Take them out when they need to be. You parents probably spent thousands so you could have a good smile. A year of them looking bad is totally worth for having pretty much a whole lifetime of them looking great. So many people have them, they won't care if they make you look different. You will get used to the look and feel of them.
Nooo she don't want them. It's not her problem her parents spent a lot of money! She didn't ask for this.
@lil_Wítch Well thats just stupid. Its in her best interests to have good teeth. It really changes the whole shape of the jaw and face and makes smiles look much better. If she doesn't want to invest a year of uncomfort for a lifetime of that then thats just stupid.
That's not her concern. She doesn't want to deal with a little pain, and she thinks her teeth look fine already. This whole concept of braces are just uses by her parents to make her life miserable, and to make sure her teeth gets deformed for the rest of her life.
@lil_Wítch deformed? It reversed the deformation during childhood while they are growing and sucking their thumbs etc etc. Are you really argueing against her parents giving her perfect teeth?
I thought she said they were fine?
@lil_Wítch noone ever has perfect teeth unless they have already had braces. People will notice the difference big time.
She doesn't need perfect teeth. Her teeth are just fine she says. Her parents are just doing this to torment her, what do they know about it? They probably have too much money anyway if they can afford to give her a brace...
@lil_Wítch parents have forsight. I honestly dont understand why you are arguing this. Did you have a bad experience with braces or something? I had braces for like a year and I never even noticed how bad my teeth were and now they look great. You really think they are doing it to torment her? Really? Thats just silly. Of course she doesn't need them but who would not want perfect teeth?
-shrug- i guess she don't. Why don't you ask her?
get um off, braces do a lot more harm than good in the long run. sure ur teeth are straight but it messes with ur skull and jaw development which is awful. They're starting to find out braces are causing skull, neck, jaw, and even back problems down the road. look into palatal expansion if ur concerned about ur smile

I had them for 3 years... Hated them the whole time. But they really were worth it. I was supposed to wear my retainer, but I slacked on it. Still, my teeth are pretty straight and I get compliments all the time
Two things:
1. Braces are cute as hell.
2. If they aren't hurting, it's time to go see the orthodontist so he can make them hurt again. If they're not hurting, they're not working.
I approve of this advice, as I've had braces before.
don't take them out, thats a thousand dollar investment into a great smile. best to stay the course.
honestly you look cute. no need be self conscious :)
You should get them removed anyway if you really don't want them.
Honestly if you have braces it's probably for a good reason. Just wait it out.
If you want to sure. I personally think braces are. cute on women.
If it bothers you that much then don't make yourself suffer
You're parents did something good for you. Let them in to they are ready to come out.
They will be worth it! I didn't think my teeth were that bad and I got them and loved the outcome! The pain isn't constant, you'll get used to them eventually.
keep them they will look great in future
if they're paying, keep em
and don't stop wearing your retainer after you get them taken out because if you don't your teeth will revert back to their crooked ways
You'll be happy as an end result. Keep them on
