Why would a girl reject you, but then seem insecure at the same time?

this girl said she didn't like me as any more than a friend, but then she seemed insecure too or like scared I was "out to get her" or something, when I just wanted to be mature about the situation and be a good guy for her. I don't understand why things are so whack or why I seem to scare her, or why she doesn't seem to like me, when it really seemed like she could have. any thoughts?

It's a confidence thing. She probably thinks that you're too good for her.

I have the same problem.

There was a great looking guy in my class once in high school, and I thought he was so lush. But at the end of the day, if I were to get closer to him, I'd feel like he's too good for me.

Basically, weird girl stuff.

Don't give up! Show her she can trust you and that you wouldn't hurt her. Some guy may have really hurt her and she is scared it will happen again so keep trying and next time you see her promis her you mean no harm

Did you ask her "do you like me" or you told her that you like her? Because you can get very different answers depending on what you did, even if the girl does like you.

Yeah if you ask her if she likes you, then you're not showing that you like her, but that you just want to know. There are players out there, so asking her like that would put her on the spot so a possible player can make fun of her afterward. And so she would say no to that for sure. But in your case, maybe she really doesn't like you any more than a friend? And it might be awkward because she doesn't know how to face you now. Maybe give her space and time. Don't be too persistent!

Going by what you have described, if you have already tried to be direct with your feelings for her, and she has shrugged them off, then you are better off jumping ship and finding another girl to go the long mile with. This friend of yours can still be a worthy asset to opening more friend circles to meet others. Good luck!

Stupid insecurities no bid deal. You should ask her what is the big deal, if she doesn't give you an answer, which its very likely that she won't you can forget about her, or give her the cold shoulder she start wondering what is going on and follow you or do some sort of "gimmick" to get your attention

tell her in a friendly way, when she doesn't think you're out to get her anymore she can come talk to you again

otherwise carry on with your life and don't waste away sleepless nights trying to figure out why people are weird
