Just by the title of this question it's going to get backlash. So just to be clear, I am aware both genders can take extremely long to reply. And perhaps because I haven't messaged tons of guys I don't notice it.
But I'm speaking from personal experience. I've messaged lots of girls/guys over the years. And not all girls were for romantic reasons. A lot was perhaps school related or they are just a friend. In my experience the guys, 90% of the time replied much faster. Either instantly or within a minute or so.
Whereas, with the girls. About 20% replied instantly or within a minute or so. Now obviously they could be busy. That's fine. If somebody is with family or busy or not on phone that's fine. I'm refering to people who reply. But they constantly only reply every 5 to 10minutes or even longer. They hold a conversation. But a 5min convo can last 40min.
Is there's a particular reason or do girls just happen to be more busy than guys?

I understand the concept of not replying fast or at all to somebody if they making advances or flirting and your not interested. That's not the question here. I should of been more specific. I'm refering to when it's just a normal friendship or something to do with school or work.
Why do girls take longer to reply to messages than guys?
Highly dependent on the girl and If/How much she likes you honestly. Any girl that takes 2 days to get back to you, would respond to another guy in 2 minutes. Obvious exaggeration, but the principle is sound. If a girl is consistently taking a really long time to get back to you, she just doesn't like you enough and you're not important enough in her life yet. End of story.
I know very busy, business women who will still make it a point to get back to their man within the hour if not sooner. Same goes for girls in Master's Programs or just working on a Bachelor's.
When you're waiting on somebody to respond, a few minutes feels like a long time. Chances are they're busy doing other things and didn't see it. If I'm being texted by several people at a time I'll sometimes forget to reply to some. Also, if you see a four hour old "hey" text at 11pm I probably won't respond either.
I tend to lay my phone down after replying. Then, if something else gets my attention I might forget about the conversation completely, at least if I do not see it as something important. That way, I do sometimes let my friends or boyfriend wait multiple hours for a reply 😅😂 by now my boyfriend just calls if I do not answer within a few minutes and asks if I've just thrown my phone away after asking. I guess that's more "typical for me" than "typical for women " though
That's what I think personally. That is more of a person thing than a gender thing. But im asking mainly because in my experience it's been mostly girls who have taken longer. Could be that I've managed to only find girls who take long to reply 😂
I guess so. I have spoken to a lot though. Most of my friends are guys. But then again that fact that they good friends can influence the time they take to respond
Honestly, i don't know if that is true. I almost could claim the opposite is true. Of course I am biased toward a woman's point of view, and you have your own bias. i wonder if there are any real statisical data that support one or the other?
Lol 😂 I was at a work meeting. But I get your point. But to be fair. I don't think it's a gender thing. I'm just asking to get an idea what people think. It just has happened that it's been mostly girls who haven't replied fast toward me. As for some of the girls here they say guys reply slower. Depends on who we meet in the end
for me it depends. if one of my girl friends texted me with gossip or they need to vent to me im gonna reply asap. if its a guy friend then theyre probably texting me with something pointless or homework so i just put off replying bc im lazy. if its q guy texting me who i dont really know but i feel like he is interested in me and i dont feel the same way about him, ill purposely take hours or days to respond so that he can take a hint (although that still usually doesn't work), on the ither hand, f i like the guy ill text back fast if we're in the middle of a convo, but otherwise ill wait like 30 min max so i dont seem desperate

it also depends on where you text me. snapchat? ill reply immediately. instagram or messenger? could be anywhere from immediately to days.
i'll get a text and i'll be in the middle of doing something so i'll think okay i'll respond as soon as i'm done what i'm doing. Then i forget to respond and move on to the next thing i'm doing. This happens whether its a guy or girl i'm speaking to. Its not intentional, i'm just doing something and i honestly forget.
I've met a lot of girls with a similar thing. Doesn't mean they bad people. But usually when a girl has taken long to reply she sometimes says they got distracted or forgot. It's funny cause personally. This isn't a guy thing. Just personally I feel really bad to not reply to someone straight away. Even if they just someone random. It's just how I am I guess.
My girl friends answer me pretty fast My guess is that those girls you message as a friend may think you want more regardless if you're not flirting but they want to avoid such situation n are letting you right away know they are not interested even if you didn't said you are cause a lot of guys would make any excuse just to chat up a girl n bother her Also some may really not care about you and not see you even as a friend...

Girls are typically messaging at least 5-10 guys with the intention of dating a few of them. To the guys they like, they'll respond fast and often so if you're only a friend or they don't like you that much, they'll text slow to avoid getting in long drawn out conversations taking time away from the guy the want to message.
For some (like me), they just hate texting. I even hate talkimg on the phone but i dont want the person to think im uninterested in THEM (im only uninterested in texting and calling them) by telling them to "stop calling and texting me" or whatever, so in return, i dont tell them that and continue replying 3 hrs later. I still want to talk to them but i just prefer face to face.
lol, I have less than 10 on a dating site and I've been consistently rated as attractive. Us men have to do a lot of legwork, even with m to f transexuals who act passive *just like women* xD
True... Issue I've had with similar sites is out of every say 20 matches I get. 16 are BOTS or fake profiles trying to get you to go to some cam website
I honestly don’t know where guys on gag go to find dates to have all these “scam” experiences 😂 I’m on tinder and, as a bisexual girl, get to view both male and female profiles and for like 100 guys maybe 5 are catfishes, while for female profiles it’s probably around 5 as well. I’ve never encountered “bots” or anything of the like at all.
I only take super long to respond to someone when I’m not interested in them and I know they’re not here to ask me about school stuff or whatsoever, but to flirt and possibly ask me out. I’m like nah, better not give him high hopes.
That's understandable. I was mostly refering to those people who do want to engage in the conversation but take long to reply. Or in conversations where the guy isn't trying to be flirting. But I get what you saying
I don't know personally I respond really fast, usually if I see that I got a message, I'll automatically reply. It's not just women, I never understood why people take for ever to reply especially if you're already in a conversation with them.
It's a process we have to analyze what you're saying what we think it means and then we have to ask our best friend what they think and what to do and then we need to think of the right way to respond and if we should put an emoji or not... its stressful especially if we like you a lot
It depends on the type of person. not the gender. Some user may not be very good with texting. I prefer video calling then text. If user text. i will text back. It depends.
For me, I just don't know how to respond and I don't want to come off the wrong way. And sometimes I just forget, or in my mind I reply but I didn't send the message.
Stop wasting time on your phone. Your phone is to plan appointments and dates. These girls are just attention whores who want to keep you over your phone.
