Is talking about farting a good conversation starter?

I’m very socially awkward and don’t know how to start a conversation. Whenever I see a girl sitting by herself in the lunch room I wanna talk n don’t know the right way to start a conversation with her. I’ve tried talking about farting and that doesn’t work. For example, I’ll leave my seat and sit next to her. I’ll say “excuse me, I farted over there, can I sit over here?”And they usually don’t respond. Do you have any other suggestions for conversation starters?

With the right mood and the right group of people, maybe. Usually… no. Approaching a woman who’s by herself? *Hell* no! Most women don’t find toilet humor amusing. They want to date a man, not an 8 year old. A select few might find toilet humor amusing, and, of those, very few would admit it. So just don’t do that.

If you’re approaching cold, try to be objectively funny or use something that’s obvious about her, which you have in common, to connect about. (If you compose music and she has a cello case, that would be something obvious.) Ask for her phone number or a coffee date, and don’t become insistent if she tries to avoid you. Most women want you to get the message without having to humiliate you. So don’t be insistent and force her to tell you off.

You could also include details about your diarrhoea that causes the farts :D
But perhaps it's just better to begin with something less smelly.

It only works if you’re a woman or if the person you’re talking to is a man. I’ve used the “excuse me, I just farted over there” line on more than one occasion. Often I straight up just fart in front of people when there’s an awkward silence.

Why would you think that’s a good line? It’s gross and tacky, most women/people aren’t gonna haha with you especially if that’s the first thing they ever hear come out of your mouth; it’s just off.
