Song: Off the Table by Ariana Grande. I told my friend I always had a huge secret crush on her and that going back to her ex for the 3rd time Is just a waste of time. She agrees but she’s obviously still healing. We agreed to keep space between me and her before dating or anything. But when she posted that song on her Instagram story with the highlighted lyrics of “I’m not her and you’re not him, thankfully” I was a bit taken back. I then listened to the song on my own and The Weeknd basically says he’s ok with waiting and being #2.
I don’t want to be her #2 choice. What does she mean by this song? She knows I saw it but then deleted it the morning after.
**** this was also after I posted to my Instagram story the lyrics to “Chicago Freestyle” by Drake when he says “women they come they go. Maybe I’ll love you one day. Maybe we’ll some day grow”
I haven’t flat out ask her because I don’t want to be just a friend coaching her about her ex. I want to be her new man.

I don’t think you are off base asking yourself if she was trying to give you a message. I have had a similar experience recently. DM me if you want to compare notes.
But ask yourself if she does mean that message for you, how do you convince her you are the next great love for her? You are a friend so you have an advantage - offer to take her to do something you know she likes to help get her mind off of her ex. play a fun game where you write little silly things she has to do if she mentions the ex (jump around on one foot, do a cartwheel, ride on your back and cover your eyes and direct you to your next location, etc.). Just keep finding ways to be with her and show her a preview of what it would be like if she dated you.
