Do Asians go to tanning salons?

I went to a tanning salon for the first time just to check it out.

I have natural tan skin but I was trying to get one color Because I hate my tan lines.

All I saw were young blond girls with obvious fake tans lol

People looked at me a bit strange since I am not "white" and I have dark skin.

lol

But any way

All I saw were white people coming in then I began to wonder if Asians ever go to tanning salons since they are so light skin and it seems to be a trend here in America too have a nice sun tan.

But I also know the cultural differences with the Asian culture and how they view having dark skin. (Traditional Asian cultures would rather have light skin)

So just wondering if you guys know any Asians who get tans?

Though in most Asian countries, actually having WHITE skin is like some kind of beauty ideal, so why would they tan it? I'm sure there's some girls who want to look like paris hilton or donnatella versace maybe they get a tan. but I think Asian skin (since I'm asian) gets tanned pretty easily anyway, so why don't I just sit in the sun?

In China and Japan it is considered very beautiful to have pale skin.

That's why they make so much skin whitening cremes and lotions...

They're not naturally pale, but they make their skin pale with those products. Mostly women I understand, men are not much bothered by this.

Yes, I've seen all different sorts of people go to tanning salons... Men, women, of all different races. My sisters are both Asian and use tanning beds. I never have because I'd rather not get melanoma and die.

Not exactly. Exposure from tanning beds increases your chances of skin cancer by at least 70% before the age of 30.

i have seen a few Asian girls with fake tans so I think they do. I went to high school with a filipino girl and a chinese girl and both of them tanned heavily. they werent traditional Asians by a long shot lol

yeah, a lot of them are white washed. Some just go because they think they're too pale.

I'm Asian and I don't go because my skin is really fair and I don't tan easily and I rather not go to a salon

I can't vouch for all asians, but in asia right now it's "in" to have very pale porcelain skin.
