Why do my friends exchange weird glances at each other when I talk?

I keep noticing that with this particular friendship group I’m in with two other girls I always find when I’m talking I catch them both looking at each other, smirking and exchanging glances when I’m talking in the group, and it makes me feel self-conscious, like they are gossiping about me when I’m not there. I often tend to overanalyse people and situations but this has now happened a few times and it’s making me feel insecure like they are both mocking me or something.

I feel like they are closer with each other and know each other better however I can’t help but notice when we hang out together and I start talking they exchange glances with each other and start smirking. Sometimes after I say something there can be an awkward silence too and they will continue to exchange looks with each other

Could just be a case of overthinking, or could be that they just have a closer bond with each other. It’s unfortunate, but often happens. You should really try talking to them about it and express to them how it makes you feel.
