It's a coping mechanism.
They are in denial of the fact that they have been betrayed by someone they cared about, so they shift blame to the third party because that way it's less damaging.
It's easier to think their partner was "stolen", than it is to accept that they simply don't respect them.

I think it´s because we do see other women as our competition. And we compare ourselves to the girls, the guys cheat on us with. And then out insecurities come to the surface.
But for sure I think the guys should be the ones to blame. The girls not always, because some guys just "forget" to mention that they are not single...
