This girl is a mystery what is she thinking ?

to be honest i don’t really like this girl but around 2 months ago my friends told me if i think that girl is cute and i said yea. ever since then, when ever that girl walks around us my friends start acting weird and saying stuff like “bro look it’s your girl”. i think she caught on or heard what they were saying because going throughout the day at school we make random eye contact, we only been making random eye contact which has been going on for a month and a half. and at times when i walk by her my friends tell me “bro her and her friends are lookin at you”. but recently i made an effort to stop engaging in that awkward eye contact. but from the corner of my eye and/or from my friends telling me. i still see her and her at times friends look at me. but when i walk near her i can tell she try’s to avoid my path which i also do to when i walk near her. but i don’t know what it can mean. i honestly just want the answer, i think she cute but don’t have a crush or wanna date her

What if she likes you and she reached up your friend in order to "test the waters" and put a good word on her, to you? You might ask him straight, since he keeps mentioning her.
Or what if he is the one interested in her but is too shy and wants you to get her closer to you both?
Or just he is simply a random immature one with some very silly humour...
In any case, if the girl didn't reach your friend on purpose, and heard your friend mentioning her to you, she is probably thinking you are very much into her but are too shy to tell and are actively talking about her to your male friends. So she is probably eyeing you, or considering to reciprocate, or anyway trying to "understand". And be quite sure that if she heard that, all her close female friends know this already and are eyeing you too.
Since you're not "so" much into her, I would just let it go and ignore like before, and possibly tell your friend to stop joking because he is creating a scenario that doesn't exist and she might have heard that and be involved unnecessarily. But ask him if he was reached out by that girl first, anyway, to justify all this effort he puts into making this picture up, of you two.
If you're brave enough you can go asking her what's going on and if she heard anything from your friend because he is making things up randomly out of immaturity and you're not involved in anything.
