Why do some girls look at you from the corner of their eye?

I have seen this behavior more in girls than i have seen in guys.

There is this girl that i see regularly but never talk to. We went into the elevator. I was looking down because i was kind of nervous. What she did was turn her head to the right to first look at the display to check which floor we were at, and then after that looked to the right with her eyes to look at me without turning her head.

am i being weird or something?
