This question was influenced by reading a piece in the Associated Press (AP), where a 23-year-old mother of three was looking to abort her pregnancy. A nurse moves a probe across her belly, showcasing cardiac activity, a "heartbeat" at 10 weeks and two days. The 23-year-old is relieved and glad that she's under the legal requirements for wherever she wants to get an abortion. Later on she goes on to say "no more unplanned pregnancies." How can she be 23 and have three children? Potentially a fourth? Why couldn't she make better decisions earlier to prevent the predicament that she was in? The pregnancies seemed definitely avoidable. Then I realized a lot of women are like this in a variety of things in life not just when it comes to pregnancy.
