Should I continue talking to him?

I met a guy a few weeks ago; we’re in the process of getting to know each other. However, we only just met and he seems to bring up the fact that he doesn’t like that I have male friends. Also; last night we were talking and out of the blue, he referred to me as an “emotional manipulator” as he says I have a way with words. I got completely hurt and offended by this, and I ended our phone call. I told him I was hurt by his comment and he said he was sorry. Am I overthinking or is this an early sign for me to stop talking to him/stop the idea of us dating?

Hmm, I'd consider those some valid red flags. It's only been a few weeks, and he's already expressing issues with you having male friends. That's a sign that he's territorial. And while some girls may be into something like that, it is generally a bad thing, especially if your friend group (s) is mixed of girls and guys.

For him to have the perspective of your words and intent being manipulative, is also pretty bad. I think he may be reading into your intentions in a wrong way because he's either being cautious from past experience, or has expectations that don't match who you are. All are issues that are completely on his side.

If this occurred over the course of a few months, then I'd say give him a chance and communicate your feelings. But a few weeks? It's pretty soon for things like this to be coming up. I think it's reasonable to either friendzone him, or let him go.

Seems like too many red flags for me. It is possible he used the emotional manipulator reference without actually fully understanding what he meant, but it seems too red flag for me especially he doesn’t like you have male friends you’ve only just started talking it seems weird!
