Girls, Do you know when a guy actually likes you but says nothing out of respect?

How often do you know when a male friend likes you but doesn’t do or say anything regarding his feelings WHEN he knows you’re already in a relationship, and what do you think when interacting with them?

I ask this out of curiosity because I messed around and caught feelings for this one girl and we are super chill with each other. Our interactions were “flirtatious” up to a point but when I found out she was in a relationship already, I eased up out of respect (Treat others as you want to be treated and all).

I am almost positive she “knows”, even without having said anything but… I’m curious what girls think about the guys actions in these scenarios? Do you low-key test them? Etc.

I don’t like making assumptions, I’d rather give benefit of the doubt because in the past when I felt 100% sure a guy liked me and I had to turn him down if I wasn’t single, I’d either be gaslit to make me feel like I hallucinated all his super flirty actions, or he’d be ok with it but then just goes ghost slowly in a way.

If you like a girl then just let her know it won’t make her think any less of you even if you’re best friends or strangers.
