From a GIRLS perspective, why would a girl want to put energy on a "low status guy"?

I lived by a girl who everytime we would encounter each other she would purposely scowl at me or lower her head & proceed to scowl... almost all the time she would do this

Or sometimes frown at me & hold it

I've had several girls do this & I'll be the first to admit that I'm not some hunk or bad boy

I'm rather average so their behavior towards me is alarming

I’ll admit sometimes I do this at the gym to men who stare at me for long periods of time. I’ll do it so they know I am not interested in their advances and their actions are making me uncomfortable.

Not saying you are doing it to this girl, but some girls give dirty looks to men so that they don’t have the opportunity to think that an interest in each other would arise. If you make too much eye contact or contact in general (which I assume you are or you’d not notice this behavior) then she’s just giving an unapproachable vibe to you because she may feel like you’d talk to her. I’d just ignore her. Hell, I’d even do it back if I were you.

The problem with these situations are that they acknowledge my presence before I do

What I mean is that they frown & act very bitchy from the get go while I'm kind of my own business

Have had several other gals smirk/laugh when seeing me too as I'm just minding my own business

It could still mean the same thing. It’s a very immature way to show you they aren’t interested. They may be used to other men who they aren’t interested in being the opposite so they act in that way. Just ignore people like that because they’re more than likely miserable.

I have dealt with women like this as another woman, they will try to get my attention as woman can be quite competitive, but I am not very competitive and I’m quite aloof. They will stare and give dirty looks hoping you will notice. They do this because they’re used to other women doing it and assume I am the same. I just ignore. That’s just how some immature women are.

There was this one gal who I've lived by but I personally never had issues with her UNTIL the DRAMA unfolded

I was walking past her house to get to MY shit done for the day & as I pass by she gives the nastiest scowl/dirty looks you'll ever see (maybe) & turns sideways to avoid staring at me but still scowling as she's looking sideways & still remember she said something along the lines of

"You look horrible" in a distressed, rage induced tone

From then on I've beefed with their other female siblings & I don't get along with their male siblings either for that little stunt
