What did these two girls at the club want from me?

I was at a club with my coworkers. Some song came on and we were dancing.

later on while i was sitting my coworker came to me and said “hey, those girls over there asked me about you. I told them your name. Go up to them”

i thought he was joking because he was kinda drunk. Later on a waiter cane up to me and said “excuse me, those girls over there are asking you to come to them”. I said thanks.

i didn't have the confidence to go up to them. My coworker was forcing me to go by pulling my arm. I resisted because i felt awkward.

now my question is, what did they want from me? Why would two girls do that?

They were interested in you is why. I bartend part time and see this constantly. Girls don't want to approach so at best they send someone with their message basically saying hey I am interested in talking to you but way too scared to go up to you myself. Unfortunately in this situation you didn't want to approach them either so everyone loses. Not saying they should have gone up to you though. Way too often I watch this "dance" so to speak and at the end of the night no one has talked to the other person. That is what they wanted though.
