My girlfriend is adamant that her sister has a crush on me, but I think she's just being friendly. What do you think?

My gfs sister is a bit of a loner, I felt bad for her so started inviting her over to help me with a few projects, repairing cars etc.

I'm 26 and her sister is 17

for the last few months my girlfriend has been getting upset with me, asking me to cut contact with her sister because she's adamant that she has a crush on me. But I don't want too we get on well and she has a great time.

The Reason girlfriend thinks this is because, her sister acts completely different when me and her are alone she smiles and laughs (flirty laughing apparently) a lot when she's with me. for context she's very quiet normally even with her mum and sister.

She's more playful throwing snowballs etc. she also stares at me when I'm not looking and always tries to sit right beside me which I haven't noticed. she talks about guys who ask her out but she rejects. She opens up about her life struggles in general.

I don't think she does have a crush on me. think she just likes having a role model

This is a tricky situation man. A couple things stand out to me -

First, the age difference between the sister and you is kinda significant at those ages. Even if nothing else is going on, it could still make your girlfriend uncomfortable just because of that.

Second, it is a bit odd that the sister acts so differently around just you compared to others. Laughing and smiling more, wanting to sit right by you all the time. That kinda behavior usually does mean she's into you on some level, even if nothing has actually happened.

I'd understand where your girlfriend is coming from for sure. At the same time, cutting contact completely might not help the sister either since she sees you as a positive influence.

If I were you, I'd have a real talk with the sister. Make it clear you only see her as a friend and nothing more. Maybe also stop hanging out alone so much just to avoid any awkward situations. Your girlfriend should come first here.

Reassure your girl a lot too. Even if the sister does have a crush, you haven't done anything wrong so far. But being sensitive to your girlfriend's feelings is important in the relationship. Hopefully this all helps smooth things over! Let me know if you need any other advice.

Stop inviting the sister over and spending time alone with her. You are dating your girlfriend, not the sister. So you shouldn’t be giving he sister’s feelings the higher priority.

Your girlfriend is probably right. Why is she telling you this? Is she proposing that the three of you get together?
