I am a young male teacher (25) and I teach Physics to high-school students (grade 11 and 12). Fortunately and by the grace of God, I have been considered as a good teacher whom everyone appreciates. Based on the observations from past few months, I am starting to feel that some of my female students might have a crush on me. Moreover, most of the girls are so shy, they’ll never admit it. But it’s pretty much evident from their body language while in my class, in my cabin, etc. I know it is normal for them, considering their age and maturity level. But I don’t want them to stray away from their studies. I want them to focus on their academics. How to I handle this situation effectively as a teacher? Any views/suggestions?

What Girls Said
Not a teacher so can't relate but I can say that I never had a crush on a teacher. I know that it happens but just didn't with me. I guess the grades they get is going to tell the story. Of course a good teacher doesn't want his/her students grades to suffer. So I guess you'll have to be proactive and motivate them. If they are not paying attention and their work is not up to pat then start writing notes on assignments you give back with somewhat of a polite warning that hey your work is really slipping and you need to pay more attention in class and do more studying at home. In the end free will rules and you can't force them to do anything. Ultimately they will be the ones that lose.
as long as they don't act out on said crush all is good. I know it might sound silly but when I've had a crush on a teacher it gave me the motivation to do even better in that subject. So I don't think you should worry about them straying away from their studies or at least from physics.
Since when does this happen?
I've been observing this since a couple of months.
