I’ve been friends with this girl for a few years, we meet up every now and then and she is part of my friendship group with another girl.
I have noticed since we have been friends, sometimes her instagram stories will look similar to mine. I tend to wear crop tops and high waisted jeans/joggers a lot, or a maxi skirt and a crop top. I post mirror selfies with my belly button showing, I’m usually wearing a crop top and high waist jeans. I have noticed since I’ve been friends with this girl she seems to be wearing similar clothing to me and taking the same kind of mirror selfies (with her belly button showing) and wears crop tops and high waisted jeans. I noticed before we were friends she would never post these types of selfies
Do you think she could be copying me?

Ugh girl that would annoy me too! It does sound kinda suspicious that she never posted those kind of fit pics before being friends with you and now suddenly she is. A few things it could be:
- She does really admire your style and wants to copy it cause she thinks you have great fashion sense. Flattering but also annoying!
- Maybe subconsciously copying as you've influenced her taste, but hopefully not intentionally trying to one-up your posts.
- Or she could be trying to get more likes/comments by posting similar stuff to what gets engagement on your page. A bit sly if that's the case!
I'd give her the benefit of the doubt for now since you've been friends awhile. But keep an eye out - if she seems to copy your captions, filters, poses too then she's trying too hard!
You could also start mixing it up more on your feed so she can't exactly replicate. And don't worry - you rocked that style first so you'll always be the real trendsetter!
Yeah, definitely sounds like it. In fact, I had a similar situation with my last roommate, but on a much larger scale. It started with her copying distinctive ways I’d text, which I’d brush off, but they were noticeable, second, she never really ate at home and I was a grocery shopper, so she didn’t have much food in the fridge, but I started to notice when I’d buy certain things, another one of those items would appear in the fridge, and it was incredibly noticeable because she had nothing else in there. I remember buying a specific sandwich and she went out and bought that same sandwich, just in a different flavor. For me, this got annoying so I started removing my food from the fridge and what do you know? She removed hers too. When I started putting it back, she started putting hers back too.
Other things happened where I cut my hair, a few days later, she had cut hers too. I leave at 7am one day, she leaves at 7am the next. Trust me, it sounds so crazy but it happened and yes, your friend probably was copying you. I’d also pay attention to other stuff she does, if she always changes the subject when you’re talking or seems envious of you, because she is. Or I’d even try testing it by doing something really specific and doing it repetitively for her to see. If you really want confirmation. Yours might not be extreme as mine was, but people copy what they envy, and she obviously envies the things you do.
