Why do men stare at a woman's butt?

I am pretty sure this has been asked before but I wanted to get an opinion anyway.

So every time I wear a short dress, skirt or pants that hug my butt... I know for a fact men stare at my rear. No, I don't have a humongous butt and I am aware that I possess a curvy, well shaped butt. I am asking this to get an idea what exactly is it men are thinking when they are staring at it.

This is a part of our own "animal instinct", because you do know we are an animal species. Have you ever seen, for example, two dogs when they meet for the first time? What's the first area they go for? The butt!. Of course, we (as a "civilized" species) can't go all the way on smelling the other person's butt. So, we stare at it. BTW, women also stare at men's behind but being a lot less obvious. This should be considered normal but our actual society is so "sexualized" and so focused on the erotic aspect that many people (men and women) are always looking at people's butts.

On the other hand, society (religiously or not) has this tabu on people showing their butts, genitals and women's breasts. Since the beginning of certain era, the human being covers those body parts while the other animal species don't (I seriously do not understand why). And, as we say here in my country: "what's forbidden, doubly desired".

Wrong! According to a psychologist, men stare at glutes because they’re either perverted or in HEAT. Plus, I personally wouldn’t find a girl with huge buttocks appealing at all. I check out girls' butts. Though, I do it discretely, unlike a lot of men I've seen do it. I do it because they look hot. If they're wearing a short skirt, sometimes you catch a peak if they move in just the right way. If they're wearing something tight, you can see the whole outline.
