I would like to submit the far more likely, and oft time most accurate reason:
He is busy.
this is for the more dire circumstances
I think. best rule is not to get to upset
I was working and this dude kept bombing my phone with texts
Than he was like are you anrgy
I feel text small things
And wait for an answer
If after a week there is none than i get worried
If he still does not answer or even read them i say it's time to move on
He found someone else.

like usually it's 3 days late but he sound enthusiastic. I'm just not sure if he likes me because all the friends and people I usually text tend to respond earlier so I don't know what it means

Because he thought or was trying to gauge the girl's interest. Then when she replies back "cool" for the umpteenth time, he thinks the girl isn't interested in talking and stops texting? Or something like that
Weird how you forgot a pretty obvious reason someone might stop a conversation: they think the other person isn't interested
