Why won't my best friend admit he likes me?

I dunno, I've never had a guy pay £72.50 for a train ticket for a day trip in London without actually doing the deed with him before or expect the deed after. He held my hand throughout the whole train ride there (2 hours, 22 minutes btw), he put his arm around me a lot throughout the time we walked around London.
He was there when I went in for my operation 2 weeks ago, he even said to the nurses I was his "half-friend, half-girlfriend". He always pushes the hair out of my eyes randomly and covers it up by saying "you look better when I can see your eyes".
There are so many other things that he does that shows he likes me more then a friend; for **** sake he even carried me to A&E when I was having chest pains! I said to him to tease him yesterday "you can tell your secret lover about your day trip to London *so and so's name*" and he replied back "She's not my secret lover" making it sound like he has just to wind me up.
It's annoying just waiting for him to come out!
