Why does my boyfriend like to touch my stomach so much?

I have already asked this question, but had very few responses so am trying it as a poll instead.

I'm fairly average weight wise - about 8st 9 (55kg) - so there's not too much squidgy stomach anyway, but whenever we sit or lay together my boyfriend will often instantly put his hand on my stomach and rub it.
Other times he will poke at my stomach and comment on it being squidgy and soft, and that he likes how squidgy it is.

I was curious as to whether this was something most guys do, is there a reason for it or is he just a bit odd?

I've left it open to girls and guys, so girls can answer from their own experiences too.

I like soft and girls have soft skin and I do like squishy but that's usually why I preffer going for the butt not the stomach. Perhaps he is odd but if he likes it and likes you and you don't mind is it a big deal? I mean people are weird (I have a near obsession with how soft women are (the tactile sensation not as a fetish or anything) and would rub my (ex) girlfriends legs just because they where so soft) but its those quirks that make people interesting.

I think he just likes touching you. It also shows intamacy because not many people will let you touch there stomach without getting your hand smacked and a strange look.
