I was walking home with a guy friend of mine, we talked for a while, then we hugged, it was normal, but at the end when we separated, his hand ran from my back to my waist, and he gave me a cute/awkward smile. I'm just wondering, what does this mean? Is this a good sign, or should I run?

And yes.. he is obviously interested in you. If you feel the same tell him. If not , then again, tell him. And if he still doesn't get the message and makes more of such inappropriate physical gestures, slap him and see if that brought him down to earth.
