Does touching signify interest?


I met a guy about a month ago at work. I would see him around but i didn't talk to him. Im really shy and dont like meeting new people so i tend to ignore the new people for a while.

He would come over to my department but wouldn't say much. He would just smile a lot but wouldn't say anything. So i had to work with him more often and i was talking to another coworker and the guy came and joined in the conversation. We started talking and it turns out we have a lot in common, even our majors. We are both engineers. So we hit it off and we started talking more and more.

The other day he came to my department and he asked me to help him pick out something. And he pulled out his wallet and i asked to see his id since he pulled it out and i said "aww. You look different" And he said "i do?" And he blushed and looked down. I guess he's getting comfortable around me. I was on a computer next to him and he pushed my arm with his arm and leaned close and tried to joke with me. And lately, whenever he passes by, he keeps tapping me on my shoulder.

I am trying not to think anything of it. Im sure he's just a friendly guy. The other day we talked about girls. He said he didn't really know any girls in engineering and if he did try to talk to them they always assume he's hitting on them. I said i wasn't like that since i talk to everyone and i dont think its a big deal.

But now im thinking. Maybe i am one of those girls for thinking he may be interested. Am i overthinking it? Is he just being friendly?

Also i forgot to mention he invited me to a party at his house. But he told me and our other coworker so i doubt it means anything
