How long should I wait before cancelling a friend request that I sent to a guy? Will it look worse that I cancel it?

It's been 2 days and he has not accepted. We have a 12 year age gap so he may not use social media like me. The longer I wait the more stupid I feel and I regret sending it. Older people I talk to said he may not be that into social media and may not be on there since I sent it especially if he has notifications turned off. Will it look dumb if I cancel the request at this point?

He has always initiated all the contact in person by giving me crap and asking me questions. This is the first time I initiated something... I wanted to show I was interested but now I feel like a creeper. I'm told by friends and random strangers that I'm really good looking etc so I don't think it'll be too creepy. Plus I see him every other day and have known him for over a year now.

Well he knows I just ended a relationship not too long ago so I think he is respecting that and giving it some space. I'm not sure. No I'm not sending a picture as I don't want people to know me on the internet on this site hence why I posted anonymous.

Well it may be the type of profession he is in as he doesn't want to give himself a bad reputation is my guess. I feel like I'm just making excuses for him. The last time I was single I had this same issue as no guy wanted to step in right after the break up because they didn't want to be the rebound they kept saying. After a few months passed then my phone was blowing up with different guys.
