Guy friend has been opening up a lot recently?
Well I've recently done this, plus recently lost my job (as in last week), so I'm pretty qualified to answer this.
1. Depression that's eating him from the inside.
2. Lack of purpose
3. Feels lost/Needs to feel like he still matters to someone. (Losing a job for a man is like losing your manhood)
4. Copious amounts of alcohol
5. "Nothing matters. What's the point mentality?"
Etc
I can kind of see the first scenario being a possibility... although he always seems happy, calm, and collected, I think he is still holding a lot inside
Oh it's killing him, I garuantee it.
Do you think it's best for me to reach out to him, or just leave him alone?
Reach out. Being alone with his thoughts is not good right now. I had to go to the movies with some friends yesterday just because I needed to get out. Prior to that, my plans were to open a bottle of whiskey and drink til' I was stupid.
Needless to say the former was a much funner, healthier alternative.
He likes you, and is probably interested in a more serious relationship with you.

It just depends. He could just trust you as a really good friend he feels safe talking to. It's not " dependence" it's human nature. It could be that his perception is leaning romantic, but it just sounds like a solid friendship to me.
See... To be honest the guy's taken a liking to u... And he's really emotionally dependent on u... So be ready to have a proposal...
HAHAHAHAHAHA 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
And if u want to say no then do it carefully... Coz he's emotionally dependent on you...
Now I really can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not But there's definitely not a proposal in the future
I'm not being sarcastic at all... I'm serious... And if u really think that u won't get a proposal then he considers u ur best friend... And that is the best
We want to need someone to talk about things. Guys try to bottle things up but if we trust you to hold secrets then we'll open. It goes a long way
Dont get the wrong idea at first. Read Body language!
Wrong idea? I don't have a specific idea.. hence why I'm asking the question in the first place. I have no "idea"
It's totally normal, unless he shows, again.. Body Language, otherwise. Maybe he has a hard time and he thinks you are close to him the most? (I mean mentality)
Because he needs someone to listen his feelings
