Do guys listen to their friends about a girl?

I had a thing with my brothers best friend (we acted like we were a couple and all), but everything has just been really bad lately to the point where he avoids me and we don't speak like we use to before. But he's okay with brother and talking to him normally. I asked my brother to talk to him about all of this when they're alone. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I really want him back but he avoids me and avoids talking about the whole situation.

No, I never listened to even family about who I should date. But my friends are a very open-minded bunch (eclectic, from many places across the world, male and female, disparate age groups). I can't think of them trying to advise me against dating a girl.

I did have a mother though who really frowned upon me dating a black girl in the US. She's really weird that way saying we should "stick to our own kind" but she's a white woman who married a Japanese man! But I ignored her and it actually made me like her a lot less.

In your scenario it sounds kind of reversed. I'm not sure if getting close to the brother is going to help that much if your guy works like me. I never listened to suggestions about both who I should date and who I shouldn't. I'm kind of stubbornly independent that way.

They are really close and the guy is living in the same house as me. Which is making it awkward, I thought my brother could help me out just by saying I made a huge mistake. The guy won't listen to me himself, He's trying to avoid me altogether

Maybe making friends with the brother isn't a bad idea. I wouldn't try to hope it to change much but it might be pleasant and maybe he could vouch for you a bit.

They are best friends, so I don't know if that makes a difference. They talk on a personal level

Can't really give a definitive answer without knowing what went on, but it does often help to share feeling.

He broke things off because I was being jealous about this girl who really likes him and is trying to get on him. It was getting too much for him. But he lives in my house and I'd best friends with my brother. He won't talk to me so I thought my brother could help me out by saying I made a massive mistake.

No, I don't. A few of my older "friends" used to make very deliberate attempts to sabotage and destroy my relationships with women. I had never once done anything of the sort to them, but they did it all through middle and high school for a laugh. I only got wise to it later on. None of my old friends know anything at all about my love life.
