It's happened multiple times with my friend. The first time I caught him staring, I waved at him so he smiled back. So I guess he must've been staring at me?
The other times it's happened, I wasn't with anyone he knows or is familiar with. I'm positive he was staring at me then too. The other day, he was standing in front of me while I was looking elsewhere, I looked up to catch him staring at me again and asked him what happened, he kept staring for a second or two then shook his head and said nothing.

We were having lunch with our respective friends in a cafe and I was looking at something in his direction but even then I could see from the periphery of my eyes that he was staring at me again. I didn't know how to react so I just ignored him. I don't know why I feel awkward around him now. I was so comfortable with him before.

He is fantasizing about you as his girlfriend. That's what I do when seeing a beautiful girl.
