Should I tell my boyfriend that I lost the earrings that he gave me for my bday last month?

for my bday he gave me a necklace and earrings I haven’t lost the necklace but I lost my earring when I went to New York I’ve been to ashamed to tell him. Do I even need to? Also I don’t want him to feel bad if he sees me wearing other earrings instead of what he gave me. I never take the necklace off that he gave me.

I say tell him. Accidents happen and while it may be disappointing, it's a fact of life such things will happen. I know if I had a girlfriend who lost a gift I gave her, I would want to know so I can support her. Don't hide the fact you lost it, deception in a relationship no matter how small can have large repercussions later. The biggest being a loss of trust. "If you're willing to lie and hide the fact you lost a gift given to you, what else will you hide and lie about?" Is defiantly something you do not want to start growing in your relationship. You can wait and pick the right time to tell him, but tell him ASAP. Who knows, maybe together you both work on replacing/recovering it.

I think for the mean time, I'd just wait to tell him about it and maybe he will forget about the earrings so non issue but if he asks, just be open and tell him the truth but you could white lie and say "I meant to tell you but I unfortunately forgot about it. I'm so sorry"

I would tell him. I mean, what would you want if it was reversed? I personally think that if it were me, and you told me, depending on what he paid for them? lol, he might be disappointed, but it's understandable and telling me would show me that you care that you lost them. However if I found out later on, and you didn't tell me, not only did you keep it from me, but I would tend to think/feel that it didn't matter enough to you to be "bothered" to mention it to me and that would be hurtful.
