What does it mean if he calls me "my girl" to me and others but says were not a couple?

So a few times this guy im seeing says im his girl. Especially this one night when he was a bit drunk and told someone about me and said "yea im seeing my girl" and showed pictures of me and about me. then i asked him if were a couple and he said no it all takes time and to take our time with things.(something like that). We've seen each other 4x and been talking a couple months prior

It either means he isn't ready to commit to anyone, or he hasn't found what he wants long-term. You may just be temporary till he finds what he's seeking. He feels some connection with you now, but he may not see you in his future. Only he can tell you if he isn't ready, and what he feels will tell him he's ready, or if he sees you as just a summer romance.

That he wants the benefits of a relationship but not willing to give you the commitment you deserve. He could be saying this in front of other guys who might like you and they will ruin his chance. So he ruins their chance to be with you.
