Why does my best friend who's the guy always call me sexy or sultry every time we video chat?

We've been friends for a while we're around the same age too, he has rejected me a while ago but lately he puts his arm around my shoulders when we walk together, we video chat 4 to 5 times out of the week talking for hours at a time he calls me first and lately he's been calling me sultry even when I'm not doing anything to be called that but he acts like I'm doing something on purpose but when he calls me sultry he always has a smirk on his face or like he's trying to hide his smile, I don't understand is he now starting to be attracted to me but it also feels like he is fighting his feelings for me.
