I (F15) got a guy's (M15) number and he takes forever to respond?

I'm quite new to all this stuff so this question might sound a little immature, which is understandable. I know I'm overthinking things, but I really don't know what to do.

School has just started and in my math class is a guy I find cute, yesterday I approached him, called him cute, and then asked for his number, to which he said yes. I texted him a few hours later and we had a good conversation. I texted him again today, but his responses have been very slow, is it possible that he's just not interested and was just being nice by giving me his number?

By the way, we're both 15 and in grade ten. And I'm not over texting him as I don't want to seem clingy or annoying.

I think you could be over-thinking a bit give him because he´s probably over-whelmed as well or he´s just keeping you waiting because he´s not good at texting quickly. See, we guys don´t respond even to our best buddies immediately so he might not respond because he takes time responding anyone.
Have some patience with him.

Texting is not the ideal way to get to know someone. It is easier to lie and exaggerate. People say things on text that they would never say face to face. The only way to really know a person is face to face. The texting is obtuse and peripheral in a relationship.

Is this during school hours? It could be his phone is on silent or he’s talking with his buddys or trying to learn stuff, do homework, prep for class. I wouldn't look to far into it but if it becomes more of a problem just ask him why he's not responding

He's probably really shy, but I admire how bold you are. He knows how you feel, so don't do anything else unless he replies. If he doesn't, then move on.
