Seeing it a lot in discord these days and just curious why this is that they hate gays but joke as if making homo sexual advances. Like I remember in gym back in high school guys would make gay jokes than smack each other on the ass but would shun the gay guys. Why is this like a thing in our culture and how did it come to be?Some elaboration is required.

No. Other than to just tell a funny joke, why else would you tell jokes about gays? I have no qualms at about fags but I still tell gay jokes every so often! A very good friend of mine is gay and I told him a gay joke a year and and he laughed his ass off for a good 20:00 after I told it!! stop me if you've heard this one before! Two fags are fucking in the shower when the phone rings. One says to the other, "I'll get it!! I'll get it!! That'll be for me!" Just as he's about to leave the shower he tells his boyfriend, "I'll be RIGHT BACK!! but I want you to PROMISE me you won't cum before I get back!!" The other guy says, "Okay, I promise." and the first guy prances off to get the phone. 5:00 later, he comes back to the shower, pulls back the curtain and see the ENTIRE AREA is COVERED with cum!! Everyone makes gay jokes but I find it the opposite to you, everyone that does never have any hate for gays. People will say that's So Gay, Or Your gay in a taunt but then they would be friends and have someone even taunting with them who is fully openly gay.
No one here makes Jokes about stuff been Gay to actually mean Gay is a bad thing it's just a common way of saying things. It's the same way people call each other cripple or other nasty names that can be linked to disability's don't mean they actually hate disabled people or see them as less.
i honestly think people where I live might have been so uptight they couldnt take jokes. I find that from the POV of most of the world the people from NE USA are way, way too uptight and can't recognize jokes many times.
It's very rare here to hear anyone actually using such things as proper hate towards that. I guess it just depends on the area and people of actually been homophobic or people who are sensitive to such words. It's kinda like how rap uses lots of negative words but if you think eminem actually is homophobic, he's not but then there are many sensitive to rap and would think eminem really is for some reason.

Yea the guys at my HS would bend eachother over and hump them and tell us “aye girl ima fck you like this”. We’d just look at him like nah man thats gay lmao. It's just used as an insult to make others feel "lesser than" even if it is stupid.
They do the same thing calling each other pussy or whatever. Those kinds of guys see women and gay men as being inferior to them and so by calling one of their peers that, they feel they are putting themselves in a higher position in the social hierarchy of their group.

Gay jokes and ass smacking is thing of the past, and kids these day identify openly and publicly about being gay, trans or whatever before then even hit puberty, or have their first kiss. Schools punish homophonic anything and promote the use of pronouns regardless of parental wishes, consent and sex by birth... I think your off base here dude... taking about a bygone era.

It’s a really good question, I think this is common with anything minority. We tend to make fun of the things we don’t know enough about or things that aren’t status quo. The locker room thing is pretty true, its camaraderie based on insults... doesn't make too much sense but everyone has done it
I have no idea, not so much the shunning gay guys, as when I was in HS nobody cane out as being gay, so we didn't know who was gay or not. The making gay jokes, one because its funny, and two because its even funbier making your homophobic mate really uncomfortable by gaying it up to him 🤣🤣🤣

I was tryna clarify to you and anyone else that it’s not gay for guys to joke around with each other if they don’t have the intentions I mentioned above. Also making a joke isn’t the same thing as hating a group as it’s not at any one person’s expense because everyone has a different sense of humour.
to me i feel like guys did this bc back then they didn’t wanna (and sorry to use stupid terms) “catch the gay” they didn’t want females they were interested in thinking they were gay by being nice to gay guys. but with their own male friends (who they thought they knew were all str8) they can act like that to. it’s weird to think about bc there could be a number of different variations of this and different situations but that seems like the gist.
Having grown up in a time gay jokes were normal only in some circles and everyone bring cool with gay people I kinda disagree with the point.
The last generation to have a decent issue with gay people was Generation X and even then it was 50/50. You may find some of the eldest millennial have issues with gays but it's very uncommon
They attack gay guys cus of their own insecurities. I also used to when saw on youtube guys slapping each other asses though that it was gay. But now if i think about it, i can see its like in sport they slap other guy ass and say go get them boy. Its a way of messing with each other that makes bond as a team it becomes inside joke that outsiders dont understand and think its gay.

Repressed homosexual tendencies, they would make the jokes to test the waters to see how people would react, when they reacted negatively (either honestly or out of their own repressed homosexual interests trying to cover themselves) the initial. joket had to compensate, usually over compensating, and the wheel kept turning

I think guys who do that are in the closet. I’ve friends who were gay, and they never tried to flirt with me because they knew I was straight. They’re just regular people too. I don’t accept what they find attractive, but I’m not gonna hate someone because they think different than I do.
i dont know, im not a part of society or culture, i dont follow these trends, im my own person living in my own world, trends are stupid, only mindless people follow trends
I know one such guy who thinks being gay is abnormal and a sin. But he is someone who had doubts that he maybe bisexual. I think they hate themselves. Hate that they may also be a part of that "sin"

You don't seem to understand mens jokes. They serve as a substitute for violence. They can be very good at facilitating bonding and don't reflect how a person feels about sex or gay men.
I guess it’s similar to if you were talking with your crush and said, “we should like, totally have sex, Hahahahehee heh. I was just kidding, but seriously”.
When you pick on, bully, and hit a guy for being gay thats hate. I understand the joke part but why are they gay joke? Think. about boomers and guys even older. Such things were nit humourous so what caused the change?
Yeah, that is in no way something common or widespread. It's a joke because they're not serious, it's them being silly with something not real. Humor changes across generations. This isn't new.
