I recently reconnected with a man via facebook. I want the chance to see if he's still an amazing man. He clearly isn't very active on Facebook and he didn't even answer my first message so I asked him out on a specific evening and he said he wasn't around then but that he appreciated the offer. So I automatically assume the worst but I send a light-hearted response and a meme to make him laugh. He responded:
"Haha! Thanks again for the offer. Hopefully some other time."
I figured, #1 he did not have to respond at all (he could have just laugh-reacted or ignored) and #2 he used the word "hopefully."
I gave him an easy out by asking him for a specific evening. I'm not used to asking a man out. Does he seem like he would be up for meeting and catching up? Or is this wishful thinking on my part?
