Hi Everyone!! Just wanted to know from you all if I did right?

I recently shifted to this place 5 months back and it’s s good neighbourhood except the one living the floor above me. I have been getting annoyed seriously seeing the guy getting drunk and shouting at his wife/girlfriend and I don’t know maybe he hits her as well inside the house. I don’t poke my nose in other’s business but I can’t stand any guy showing his power at a female.

Yesterday I was pissed off due to some reason and I again saw this guy being drunk shouting at his partner at the stairs. I went to him and politely asked him to be quite and not to be shouting at his partner. I even told him that if he continues this, I shall call cops on him but he showed his attitude on me and gave me a little push. I got furious on him, held him by his collars and asked him to behave well to his partner as well as me. I told him a lie that I have strong connection and I can get him arrested under serious charges. I thought maybe he would get aggressive or something but he and his partner went back to their house silently. I didn’t hear any shouting today and I hope he now behaves well.

So I wanted to know whether I did right or wrong?

Huh. Thank your lucky stars that he didn't shoot or stab you. You messed up. Leave those people alone. If you hear anything that sounds like a crime is being committed, call 9-1-1 immediately. If something does happen and you mention that you had an altercation with that guy, the police might want to know why you didn't file a police report. Most of the time, it is better to stay out of other people's business. I would probably intervene if a child were involved. But, again, that "Ike and Tina" situation does not require an audience.
