Okay so we have been friends for over a year and when we were just friends i started developing a crush on him and whenever we played truth and dare and all he always used to say he had a crush on me and would date me if he had to date one girl from his friend group. Later somehow I ended up confessing to him and he was like 'i knew it i wanted u to say it out instead of hiding it' and turns out he said all those just to make me confess. Moving on right now we are bestfriends, and now he says like he really had a crush on me back then like he doesn't says it directly but indirectly kinda, he flirts with me sometimes and now also calls me darlin and sweetheart, i don't know what to think about it

Rather than to try to ignore the signs, why don't you just ask him directly? The worst that can happen is that he denies it because he does not want to be seen as weak for not telling you or that he truly does no longer care for you because the situation has been on hold for way too long.

Either way, all you risk is a rejection but that is okay because your life will be full of rejections and missed opportunities. Better learn it now when it does not hurt too much rather than when you really LOVE someone and get rejected. Having a crush and loving are 2 different feelings.
