Why did my ex not reply but then call me?

my ex accidentally text me saying he is using a different phone right now and that he got my message.

I didn’t have this new number, so when I asked who it was, he didn’t reply. I went to save it in case it was someone I know, and accidentally called it. It went through though before I quickly hung up.

2 hours later he calls me for 2 seconds. Is he playing games? Apparently the text wasn’t for me, so why did he drop call me back?

Just confused as to why he called back after not answering. He's the kind of guy to play immature games sometimes.

He drop called me again the next day, but no text back. I don't want to talk to him. At first I thought he was trying to text me to show me he's texting some girl, because it said he was using this phone at the moment, as if he was telling me he has a new phone. And I thought it wasn't a mistake because we haven't spoken on that phone, so it's not like he entered the wrong conversation. But I guess I'm just thinking too much about it!
