He said I need to take time before I know I love somebody and then said but that doesn’t change how much i wanna be around you? what does he mean and how can I make it work … advice?

I think he's basically saying he wants to keep seeing you but he doesn't want to commit and just letting you know where he stands at the moment.
Also advice I would ask him what he means. I find it better if you can get the full clarification from the person.

I think I read that wrong just keep in contact best you can if he's saying he wants to take time away from you to think on things but he's still would really like to be seeing you just wants time to think
