My friend that came to visit me makes me feel bad about myself what should I do?

I try to talk to him but I get like quick hurried "yeah yeah" like he's not listening. No matter what I talk about it's never enough for him I feel exhausted being around him like I have to constantly entertain him and he's always on his phone. I took time off for him his visit I just feel shot about myself

He is tomorrow. I'm trying to converse with him but it's like pulling teeth. Why does he even keep in touch with me. I used to live in Canada but moved back to the uk thats how I met him. I actually wasn't that keen on him when I lived in his country he seemed quite rude so I tried to distance myself but he keeps coming back something about people in Toronto they were quite superficial I'm much happier in Scotland

I can see why nobody wants to be his friend that much. He actually got fired when i worked with him he didn't do anything just sat on social media
