Why would a guy ask me to go the movies out of the blue after me and him not talking for a while?

What happened was me and this guy haven’t talked for a while ( in 2 months) I posted this picture of myself on Instagram uploaded it. He liked the picture and texted me out of the blue “hey” I responded with hey back he said “wyd” I said “just chilling and u?” He responded with “I’m just chilling too after a long day” than he asked me “do you wanna go to the movies sometime” I was surprised because I did like him before but I thought he wasn’t interested? Why did he text me out of the blue and asked me out?
