Mixed signals? Where do I go from here?

guy and I have continued seeing each other (just in the evenings, never out) and we continue to have wonderful conversations. Yet he still pulls away sometimes, rather drastically. To the point that he tells me it’s only about the sex for him.

but then let’s me meet his son? That he’s notoriously protective over and devoted to (rightly so)? And the three of us hang out at a carnival, he lets just me and his son go on rides etc. says they both enjoyed the time? Same thing a week later going to the movies, and helping me with my car no questions asked. But then we have lunch and visits me at home and suddenly distances himself again? I am so beyond confused by all of these mixed signals. It seems and feels like there’s more to this, but then some of his moves say different. I just want to know if I’m crazy or if there is actually more and he’s just hesitating? Any advice/insight is appreciated

So I want you to hear me out, and I'm not telling you this to down your hopes or feelings, but to put the situation into perspective for you.

As they say: what is meant for you, will be for you. And you won't have to guess at it. If things are unclear/gray area, or seems promising one moment but then unlikely the next, it probably is not a relationship. And eventually even you will become tired of guessing at it. He also told you directly (I'm assuming) that it's just about sex for him. That in itself says there probably is no promise of love there even for the future.

I think you would want a relationship that is built on a true connection, a real longing in him to want you and know about you, and even care for you. Not to just be a fuckbuddy and a great mother figure for his kid.

@Needtoknow318 This guy @ManOnFire is totally spot on. He is right. No guy who is really in love with a woman would tell her “It’s only about the sex”. Those words would never be uttered if he was in love with you and was dreaming of a life with you. If you are looking for a friend with benefits, he may be your guy. But if you are looking for a long term, loving relationship, he is definitely not. Trust us guys here, we know how other guys tick.

@StrongMale @ManOnFire thank you to you both for your insight—it really sucks knowing logically that’s the answer but wanting it to be different😅 and since that’s the case, should I quit reaching out? I enjoy our conversations immensely, and I hope that’s not one sided either:/

If you want to stay in touch with him that's perfectly fine. Don't toss a friendship unless you really have to. But I think as far as a relationship goes, there's not a good future for that for you. Connect with someone who will live and adore you without the fuckbuddy aspect.
