It normal for a guy just to unfollow you after a disagreement?

Hey so this is a genuine question. I met this guy online we met and had an amazing time. I thought we had a friendly banter going. I said as a joke that he was a part boy and a bad boy because of the way he presented himself at the party. He said that putting people in boxes is my thing and it’s a me problem. Then I sad maybe I’m simple just stating a truth-I thought it was all banter. He unfollowed me. He explained that I took the time to write it so I must mean it. It’s was a joke. I said to him that I’m sorry if it hurt him. He said it’s fine he is just not feeling the vibe. I just think it’s weird that he just unfollowed. Am in the wrong here? Could this situation be prevented? Did I got too far? I honestly am so shocked as up to that point we got along so so well. I just can’t believe that one comment will ruin everything. The thing is he said he does not feel it but he keeps on responding to my messages.

I think he was into you or testing waters for a relationship with you. This is why he took it so personally that he is not feeling the vibe anymore. Otherwise if it was really a friendship, then he wouldn’t mind it especially after mentioning that it was a joke. Or he may be too insecure as a friend as well that he sacrificed the friendship for the sake of an (apparently) bad joke. Anyway, it is good for you that he distanced himself away from you otherwise it would have been a lot of problem in future
