Did the Hulk kill any innocent people in The Incredible Hulk 2008?

The answer may be obvious to you, but this is a big deal to me. To me, as a little kid, i've always seen The Hulk as a good guy or rooted for him. Or at least, I cared about him enough to root for him or see him as the good guy. Now i'm developing a more complex and nuanced view of the character, but I still usually see him as a good guy, but I wanna keep that innocent view of him being a superhero with me.

he's a good guy who usually fights monsters, doesn't kill any innocent people and if he does its an accident or its under the spell of a bad guy am I right?

And Yes I know Bruce and Hulk are different. The Hulk has to be a gift for him to be a hero and the Hulk has to have some level of morality and compassion. If he's an antihero who only kills bad guys, then he's technically goodish. If he is an antihero, and doesn't care waht he destroys or whose, then he's no longer a hero. If he does kill innocent people, then he is no longer a hero.

My big concern is about him killing Soldiers and Military Personnel. Did he really do this? And what implications does this have for Bruce or The Hulk? Can he still get hero status or work with the avengers?

Yes, Hulk killed several soldiers in the 2008 Hulk movie. You can argue that they are armed combatants and Hulk was engaging in self-defense. However they were also men doing their jobs, given legal orders, and had families waiting for them at home. They weren't "bad guys."

When Bruce first became Hulk, he immediately killed a guard and three scientists. Hulk also killed a few factory workers who jumped him (may not qualify as self-defense since he met the threat with excessive force). They also say in the movie that the military tracked Hulk by his trail of destruction. Hulk killed two hunters in Canada and a police officer in Idaho as he moved south.

Is Hulk a hero? Not in this particular movie. He's most akin to a dangerous individual with severe, untreated mental health issues. An argument can be made that his actions are not his fault, because he is not in control of them. However, he did still kill multiple innocent people.

His goal also was not to be a hero. It was simply to avoid confrontation so he wouldn't lose control and kill more people.

To answer your first question, yes, Hulk killed innocent people. And not just in the 2008 movie. He killed innocent people in Age of Ultron, as well.

Is a hulk a hero at the end of the 2008 movie? That depends. If you kill 3 people and then stop another murderer who killed 30 people (and would kill many more), does that make you a hero? And are you at fault for actions you take while not in control of yourself? Hulk is a hero to some and a villain to others, depending on their personal code of ethics and moral values.

Personally, I believe in redemption. I believe that it is possible to atone for past misdeeds. That a terrible person does not have to be a terrible person forever. I don't believe Hulk is a hero at the end of the 2008 movie, but I do believe he has started on his path to redemption. After having saved the world at the end of the Avengers movie, I think he had achieved it. As for being a hero, I don't believe Hulk truly achieved that until saving the universe in Endgame, when he undid Thanos' snap. (Although an argument could still be made that he actually doomed the universe, when he foiled Thanos' plan to save it.)
