Why do guys ask girls what their zodiac sign is? It's especially strange, as I don't know too many men who actually believe in that kind of stuff. Do they start that conversation because they think most women are interested in it? Does it mean they're attracted to the girl if they mention that kind of thing? Or is it just a conversation starter?
I have used this as a test. If she starts going on and on about what it means about her personality and who she's a good match for and whatnot, I lose interest in an instant.
They never ask that to their guy friends. That's all you need to know.

I doubt I've EVER asked that and don't really care! It's mostly girls that ask that! From what I've seen, it doesn't make any difference! I read a couple zodiac tomes and couldn't help notice that nearly every sign has SOMETHING in common with me! There was a book in the `80's called, "Love Signs" by Linda someone or other. It's big fat book listing every possible zodiacal combination two people can have and what each person in that sign SHOULD bring to the table and what the combination of these two "forces" living together might end up with and, although I never read the entire book, I checked quite a few of the zodiacal aspects and noticed that I have some of the traits from every one of them! So, it's really kinda pointless to bother about zodiacs. The whole thing is a farce!
Do guys do this? My mother was into astrology and it got kinda creepy. Sorry, Bethany22, I don't have an answer to your question other than to say yeah, it's probably a conversation starter designed to find some common ground. Likely safer than "which political party do you support?"
I don't know much about the Zodiac, so I wouldn't ask that question. It's as genuine as saying that she has a beautiful aura or that you as cosmically connected or you sense that you were partners in a past life where she was your queen.
Asking "what's your sign" is a safe ice-breaker when you first meet someone. It's innocent, not especially personal, and often starts a conversation.
I don't know but anyone who asks me that is immediately like them haha especially when a man honestly really is asking, I'm like yeah awesome!
Since so few men are into that sort of thing, they might be trying to differentiate themselves from the herd of other men by asking that.
I don’t ask what their zodiac signs are. To me, I don’t believe in that because I’m a Christian. Zodiac signs and horoscopes go completely against the Bible.

I can only assume the same thing I assume when guys talk about how much they love Children, they know women are a sucker for it and use it to try to get 🐱
It's an easy way to get talking. Asking their Chinese zodiac sign gives age while western narrows it to month.
It also communicates you're totally comfortable with utter bollocks.

Just for fun. Like asking them what their favourite colour/animal is. I ain’t superstitious; that’s a sign of bad luck.
I never have asked. Nor will I ever ask. I get asked from women often … it is a silly subject.
