I need a POV, long story short;

Im seeing ths guy, at first it was platonic for a year, and then we started dating for about 3 months, and then he went silent. He reappeared on December and we have been talking since then.

I know he had this very manipulative toxic ex and I know he had a very hard time and its WAY TOO GUARDED. BUT the last 2 times we hung out was like this;

1] i love u, care for u, but dont want to fall in love. So I told him, Im Not a casual thing, i dont do casual sex.

2] last Friday, I texted him to see how he was, I was having a small party at my house and he told me if he could join me. When he arrived he was very loving, happy affectious, asking for many hugs, kisses, and very touchy, which its very surprising for me, bc he usually control his emotions. Fast forward he slept trhought the next day, he was very into cuddling me and telling me how much he love me...

HE asked me why I think he is a good guy, and I told him: bc the eyes never lie. You can be very outgoing but I see sadness in your eyes, and I do know u have a golden heart, I can feel it, very guarded bc of your past, but a beautifull heart

But i dont know if he is falling for me or he was scare when I told him I see Sadness in his eyes. Even in he morning when he left i told him"dude, i mean it when I said to you, I love u, and he was like I mean it too"

So please help me understand the situation, if he dont want to fall in love, but keep saying I love u, spent the night cuddling, what does it means?
