Guys, Do guys generally walk behind or in front of a girl they like?

I am just curious because one day, there was this guy I work with who was walking a few paces behind me. We weren't really talking to each other so I pulled a little to the side and slowed down to give him room to pass me if he wanted to but he just stayed behind me. Mind you, I am only 4'10" and he seems to be at least 6'2" so he could have easily passed me with just a couple strides but he stayed behind me. But another time after shift, he was walking out with a girl who kind of flirts with him but he was walking a few paces ahead of her. So do guys generally walk in front of girls they like or behind them? Or is it completely coincidental?

Somebody asked that before and I noticed that when it's a girl I like or familiar with.. I know / semi know her... I almost always walk behind her.. It's like a natural thing..
