Does any one know Why a Male would call his female friend ( His sister) ?

Does any one know why any Male would have any reasons to call Another Female who actually they are not at all family Relations at all ; Yet Calls her ( his sister ) or in from people saying " Oh That is just my sister " he tells when people asked him ; which is very odd because she and him are off & on actually sexual with each other , which the female was curious why he can't just tell people that she is just a friend.

Hey I wanted to update my findings with this question, which I finally found out that my male Friend who has been telling Anyone unless they are my own family members that I am his little sister is because for my own safety and protection, because of males who have actually tried to strike a conversation sexually with me, but as low-key conversation when he was around which I’m glad that he was around because the dude was fucking creepy. Sorry for my language.

My assumption is because they feel they are closer than just friends, but not romantically involved. Much in the same way they may call someone not related to them their brother if they've been really close friends for a very long time.
