Why didn't he enter the store?

I was with a guy for a very long time. We haven't seen each other for 2 years, he has a girlfriend now. I work in a shop, one day he and his friend came in. Both he and I were surprised to see each other. I said good morning and he smiled and said hi. He asked for help, I approached, and when he saw me approaching, he smiled. He gave me his hand to shake and asked how I was doing. I gave him a shirt to try on, we laughed a little. He asked how love is and I told him Never better. I didn't ask him anything about him. He smiled and asked how long I have been working there, I told him that I had gained weight and he asked why I am telling him that when I have a boyfriend.
After 3 months, I saw him again, but he just passed by the store and went to the cafe. Why?

He probably felt uneasy meeting you in the store and all this back and forth with questions put him in an uncomfortable situation.

It could also be that he spoke about the "incident" with his current girlfriend and she may not have been too happy about you talking with him.

To avoid further frictions at home with his girlfriend or to avoid to be in another uneasy situation, he preferred not to confront you with the past and decided to pass the store without stopping.

There are multiple reasons but those 2 are the ones that pop up in my mind immediately.

Why do you care? He's with someone else and so are you. What does it matter. He's simply a customer when he comes in. Nothing else.

It sounds like you're expecting him to want you back, or to always go hang out at your job when he's around.

The conversation you mentioned sounded a bit awkward, so maybe it just doesn't occur to him to keep talking to you all the time?

You both have lives, you're both different people. There's way too little info to know, you have you figure yourself out or talk to him.

You didn't say who initated the break up and why it happened. Perhaps he feels guilty about the breakup and would raher avoid seeing you and dredging up old memories. Or maybe all is not well wth his girlfriend and you represent a temptation for him.
