Boyfriend forgot to text me happy birthday how mad should I be?

boyfriend of 4 years bought me a bike for my birthday last weekend as an early birthday gift it was so nice and expensive. I asked for my actual birthday to send me a loving message (he’s not very emotional) he said fine we don’t live together and we aren’t seeing one another due to school for me and work for him we live an hour apart anyways this morning he texted me “Goodmorning pook” as if it was another day and I know he knew it was my birthday I messaged him saying “ you forgot my birthday don’t write the letter you didn’t want to anyways” he messaged back saying he was sorry he had an early meeting he forgot about and was rushing he said I’m sorry happy birthday pook and I’ll write your letter on a card instead” and I haven’t responded. I’m upset made me feel like he doesn’t care

YOu have to decide whether a relationship imbalance like that is one you want to continue to be a part of. This isn't something that's going to change.

If he already gave you your present, it’s easy to let days run away and not realise what the exact date is.
Like you said, he was in a meeting & probably had a lot on his mind. It probably would have come to him later on.

Maybe focus on what he has done for you rather than something that slipped his mind because he was busy.
The letter won’t have any less meaning.

You said the two of you have been together for 4 years? Does he forget every year? Probably not. And he probably would have remembered it was your birthday later that day. He sounds like a decent dude and you're being extremely unreasonable.
